What is the RPFT exam?
The RPFT (Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist) credential is earned by passing the NBRC Pulmonary Function Technology (PFT) Examination at the high cut score. The same exam also awards the CPFT credential at the low cut score.
How many questions are on the RPFT exam?
The PFT exam has 115 multiple-choice questions (100 scored + 15 pretest) with a 2-hour time limit. It is available at PSI testing centers Monday through Saturday.
How much does the RPFT exam cost?
The PFT exam costs $200 for new applicants and $170 for repeat applicants. AARC members receive a $40 discount on their first application.
What are the eligibility requirements for the RPFT?
Candidates must be 18+ and meet one of: associate degree from CoARC program, CRT or RRT credential, 62 semester hours of college credit including biology and math, or CPFT credential.
